Log Cabin syrup

I am so very excited!!!! Log Cabin syrups are now making their syrups without high fructose corn syrup. As a matter of fact, they even have an article on their site about HFCS not being healthy.

Now, of course, I would prefer 100% pure maple syrup but I have at least one very picky eater in the house.

Go Log Cabin!!!!

  1. Unfortunately, due to unseasonably cold weather real maple syrup is outrageous in its price....I find this kind of funny...the too cold part, not the price...

Thanks for the heads up on the No HFCs....

Bullseye BBQ sauce also has NHFCs listed very large on some of their bottles.

  2. Yes, and did you know Pepsi will have cola with real sugar not HFCS? I can't remember the release date but it's called Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback. I also didn't know that Coke and Pepsi always have kosher sodas released near Passover with no HFCS. I guess I don't frequent any kosher markets and so have never see them.

Truth be told, we don't drink soda much...but did think it was interesting.

  3. I had heard about Pepsi. The Log Cabin with no HFCS is clearly marked as such. There are still some out there with HFCS. I wrote the parent company today, thanking them for removing the HFCS, and received a nice letter back from them about them proactively removing it as of Feb. 2009.

Glad to hear some companies are listening and being prudent.

Yes, Hinterlands, I have seen the high prices of pure maple syrup....yikes....

  4. I love the real stuff! I'm all for taking it out of as much as possible - not because of the health issues - but because it ruins the taste of everything! Do you know that people used to drink Dr. Pepper hot? Like coffee? Purists say that this only works w/ the "real sugar" DP.

  5. Wow, I missed this. Yes, we've been skipping pancakes and waffles because I couldn't bring myself to buy more maple syrup. The Sneaky Chef cookbook has you make blueberry syrup and add it to regular syrup for flavoring. I'm going to try that too but now I can use Log Cabin.

Natalie, we have a Jewish deli near us and I can get kosher Coke and Pepsi all the time. I have found it just easier to buy specialty sodas since we don't drink it that much.
